About the Event

As the largest qualitative bereavement study of ethnically diverse populations in UK history, this research shows how racism, cultural exclusion, and inequitable access to bereavement services deeply influence bereavement experiences. Participants described encountering discrimination, exclusion, and a lack of culturally-competent support after death. The study calls for anti racist, culturally safe, and equitable community-led models of bereavement care, supported by structural change, greater workforce diversity, and genuine collaboration with affected communities.
