About the Event
Don't forget the Children: Equipping health and social care professionals to support families when a parent is dying with cancer
Professor Cherith Semple, Professor in Clincal Cancer Nursing, Ulster University/South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust, Northern Ireland
Health and social care professionals often lack confidence and skills on how best to support families when a parent of dependent children is at end of life with cancer. This talk will provide insights on how healthcare teams can support parents at end of life with cancer regarding their children, using a communication framework and co-produced, innovative short educational videos. Promoting end of life conversations between professionals and parents has the potential to improve the bereavement experiences for the whole family.
